Primary objective of FOP cycleothon is to seed the FOP student units across the country in all colleges and institutions. FOP is the world’s largest community policing initiative with 55 lakh private security guards in India being empowered as FOP
No force on earth can stop FOP for it is an idea whose time has come. This is the most gruelling expedition undertaken across the world in scorching Indian summer covering hill states and mountains to the coasts.

In my search on the net and elsewhere, I have not discovered any country or province in the world ever, where the police have inspired a similar cycle expedition undertaken by civilians in support of the police. This is also the second time three of the cyclists have undertaken such an arduous expedition. Surely, the people of India represented by these five young men deserve a better police service and better policing than we are giving them now even if the dictum that the people get the police they deserve is true.

Dear all,
contrary to a thot blog by some senior officers on this forum about who wants to be a leader- each one of us down to the last police constable is a leader in society whether we like it or not. As one retired DGP who visited me once in the Range said, ” If we don’t think, then who else will think.” With this in mind , the FOP student unit constitution has been prepared and tried out in quite a few institutions with great success in enthusing students to work with the police for social change. Even the mammoth all India cycle rally currently underway is a product of those efforts. If IPS officers, serving, tired and retired everywhere take the attached FOP student unit constitution in their own way to institutions in their areas, we would leave our footprint long after we are retired or gone for good. You are free to remove all the names in the document and put yours or any one elses you may chose or modify as you like.
If you are planning for six months grow potatos, if you are planning for a year , grow paddy , if you are planning for a generation,plant men..
