The FOP cycyleothon after a week of silence compelled by radio silence in Ladakh area, reported last night that they were safely camping in Manali for the night after passing through the most difficult part of the odyssey in near freezing conditions in some areas in Ladakh where they camped in tents and found it difficult to get even food. They pushed their cycles for long stretches due to the breathing difficulties in high altitude

Friend of Police Volunteers Cycle Team Reaches Srinagar
Srinagar July, 23: A four member team of Police Volunteers which has embarked on an All India Cycle Expedition commencing from Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu on May 12, 2010, reached Srinagar.
The team comprising of four members namely J. Anbu Selvan, V. Vinothraj, R. Raja Selvam led by Capitan D. Mahendran reported Armed Police Control Room, Batamaloo, Srinagar on 22.07.2010. The team will be covering 24 states and 86 district headquarters by covering a distance of 14600 Kms in 150 days. The team has to report back in Chidambaram, Tamil Nadu by September 2010. The objective of the team is to create awareness among people about the Friends of Police Mission and campaigns specifically focusing on Pollution, Global Warming and Disasters.
The expedition is sponsored by the Central Association of Private Security Industry (CAPSI) Chennai. The stay and other arrangements for the said team in Armed Police Control Room, Srinagar was being monitored by IGP Armed, Shri Dilbag Singh.
The cyleothon proves the people friendliness of police everywhere, the unity in diversity of India and the All India character of the IPS that makes batchmates respond spontaneously to a request to facilitate the touring cyclists.
The FOP cycleothon is entering Jammu today. SP Jammu is requested to please arrange a reception and facilitation for them in his territory.
